ABILENE, Texas - The Lyon College women's soccer team lost a 7-0 decision at McMurry on Friday night in the season-opening game.
The Scots (0-1) trailed 3-0 at halftime.
Jessica Steele had two shots that included one on-goal shot. And that was most all of the offensive attack by Lyon College in the contest.
Zoe Papazoglou and
Katelyn Balderas, both captains for the Scots, played 81 minutes each. Steele put in 80 minutes, while
Allison Byars played 74 minutes and
Lauren Couture was on the turf field for 71 minutes. Other starters included goalkeeper
Bethanny Moore,
Mackenzie Moody,
Millie Beller,
Emily Betzold,
Emilee Simpson, and
Alexis Whitley.
Subbing in for the Scots were
Jessie Stauffer at goal-keeper,
Deaiveon Carter,
Destinee Flowers,
Maggie McCollum,
Emma Rumore, Hanna Klara Birgisdotti,
Natalie Wyatt,
Mikayla Neveloff and
Nataly Furne.Â
Stauffer and Moore both had seven saves at goalie in the match.Â
Lyon College returns to Batesville on Thursday, September 5 for its home-opener against Randall University. The Scots take on Howard Payne University on Saturday afternoon.
