CHESTERFIELD, Missouri - The Lyon College Scots softball team clinched a resounding 8-0 victory today against Webster University, demonstrating their strength both on offense and defense.Â
Mary (MK) Duffield's homer in the 2nd inning and double in the 5th were standout moments for Lyon's offense as she recorded three RBI's in the game. She was backed by key hits from players like Anna Voth, who's sacrifice hits also proved instrumental in advancing Lyon's runners and creating scoring chances. Georgia Holzer's sacrifice fly in the fifth inning drove in pinch runner Brianna Morequecho to give Lyon the 8-0 lead.Â
Pitcher McKenzie Campbell commanded the mound with precision, limiting Webster's offense to just three hits over five innings. Lyon's defense provided crucial support, with solid infield work by Trinity Arrambide at shortstop, and Olivia Orf at third base. These defensive efforts, combined with Campbell's stellar pitching, left Webster struggling to gain any offensive traction.
The Scots will play next on Howard and Mary House Field in Batesville on Wednesday May 1st for their final double-header of the season. The games are set to start at 2:30 pm and 4:30 pm.
