EUREKA, Illinois - The Lyon College Scots swept the Eureka College Red Devils 16-6 in seven innings and 17-11 in the second game of a SLIAC double-header on Saturday in Eureka, Illinois.
The Scots (11-15, 7-3) remain among the leaders in the conference after the sweep.Â
In game one,
Caleb Collins put down a bunt single to score
Ashton Compton, then
Walker Smith doubled to center field to score
Braden Hendrix,
Logan Doody and Collins for a 4-0 lead.
The Red Devils added two runs in the bottom of the second inning to make it 4-2, but Lyon scored three runs in the top of the third inning to go up 7-2.

Garrett Graef singled to right field to bring in
Walker Smith and Lightner scored when Hendrix was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.Â
Eureka cut the lead to 7-6 in the bottom of the third. Lightner hit a sacrifice fly to score Doody in the fourth, then
Jayden Cull singled to right field to bring in Graef for a 9-6 lead.Â
In the sixth inning, Compton singled to right field to bring in Lightner and Lane Vangennip, then Hendrix doubled to right center to bring in Compton. Cull followed with a base hit and Hendrix scored, then Doody singled to right and Cull came across the plate to make it 14-6.
Graef added a two-run homer in the top of the seventh inning with Smith on base to make it a 10-run rule game at 16-6.
Patrick Babcock picked up the win from the mound for the Scots.Â
In the second game, the Scots had 21 hits to go with their 17 runs.
Lyon started with two runs in the top of the first inning when Collins doubled to right center to score Cull and Doody.
The Scots trailed 5-2 until the top of the third inning when Lightner hit a three-run homer to center field that scored Cull and Collins. Graef doubled to center field and Vangennip scored. Compton double to right center to bring in Graef and Lyon led 7-5.
The game was tied 7-7 until the top of the fifth inning when Graef hit a sacrifice grounder to score Smith. Compton singled up the middle to bring in Lightner and Cull doubled to right field to bring in Compton and Hendrix to make it 11-7.
By the top of the sixth the score was 11-10, but the Scots added more runs when Smith doubled in Collins, Compton doubled in Lightner and Vangennip to make it 14-10.Â
Graef singled to the left side to score Smith and Lightner in the top of the eighth inning to make it 16-11.Â
In the top of the ninth, Lightner walked with the bases loaded and Doody scored to put the Scots up by six runs.
