BATESVILLE, Arkansas - The Lyon College Scots baseball team split a double-header with the University of the Ozarks Eagles on Saturday afternoon at Fred Wann Field.
The Scots (3-9) won the first game 3-1 and dropped the second game 8-3.
Patrick Babcock picked up the win on the mound for Lyon College in Game 1. He threw 6.1 innings and struck out 11 Eagles.
David Jennings came in to get the save in the top of the seventh.
Ozarks led 1-0 after the first inning.
Braden Hendrix had a double in the bottom of the first for the Scots, but was left stranded on base. In the bottom of the fourth inning, started with Hendrix getting hit by a pitch.
Kooper McCoy doubled to right field to score Hendrix, then
Logan Lightner grounded out to second to advance McCoy to third base.
Logan Doody singled to right field and brought in McCoy to give Lyon College a 2-1 lead.
The Scots added another run in the bottom of the fifth inning when
Garrett Graef walked, then went to second on a passed ball.
Gavin Caldwell walked and both runners moved up when
Walker Smith grounded out.
Ashton Compton walked to load the bases and Hendrix singled through the left side to bring in Caldwell for a 3-1 lead.
In Game 2, Ozarks led 2-0 after three innings, but In the bottom of the fourth inning,
Jayden Cull tripled to right field to bring in Doody and cut the score to 2-1.
The Eagles scored one run in the fifth and tacked on five runs in the top of the sixth to lead 8-1.
The Scots scored twice in the top of the seventh when Cull singled in Doody again and Smith reached on a fielder's choice to score Cull and make it an 8-3 game.
The Eagles turned a double-play to end the game.
