BATESVILLE, Arkansas - The Lyon College Softball Scots fell to the Fontbonne Griffins in a SLIAC double-header at Howard and Mary House Field on Saturday.
The Scots (9-11, 2-2) lost 11-0 in five innings in Game 1 and 9-1 in five innings to the Griffins in Game 2..
Lyon College had only one hit in the game by Skylar Foreman.
Sophie Varela walked to lead off the first inning, then was caught trying to steal third base. Trinity Arrambide walked with one out in the bottom of the second and Foreman singled to right field, but both were left stranded on base.
In the second game, the Scots had three hits and made five errors
Georgia Holzer had two hits and Arrambide had the other for Lyon.
Olivia Orf walked with two outs in the bottom of the first inning. Chloe McCance walked to lead off the bottom of the second inning and Holzer singled to left field, but both did not advance.
In the bottom of the fourth inning ,Arrambide hit a single to right field and stole second base. Arrambide advanced to third on a ground out by Foreman, the Holzer singled her in to make it 9-1.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Jacey Holder was hit by a pitch and Whitney Mitchell came in to pinch run for her. Mitchell stole second base, but that was as far as she would go.
