Lyon College softball sweeps Hendrix College

BATESVILLE, Arkansas - The Lyon College Scots softball team swept a double-header from the Hendrix College Warriors on Saturday afternoon at Howard and Mary House Field 4-3 and 3-1.

The Scots (3-3) got scores from Whitney Mitchell, Trinity Arrambide and MK Duffield in the first game. Sophie Varela, Anna Voth and Olivia Orf scored the three runs for Lyon College in the second game.

In Game 1 - Mitchell reached first on an error and Varela scored on the play for a 1-0 Lyon College lead in the bottom of the first inning. 
Hendrix came back to tie the game in the top of the sixth inning on a single, but the Scots came back to retake the lead 4-1 in the bottom half of the inning. Duffield reached first on an error and Mitchell scored on the play. Arrambide scored on a wild pitch, then Jada King reached on an error and Duffield scored to put the Scots up by three runs.

Hendrix came back to score to runs in the top of the seventh to close the gap to one.
Chloe McCance pitched 5.2 innings and gave up one run. McKenzie Campbell came in for the last out of the sixth and Madison DeRoussell pitched one inning.

In Game 2 - Hendrix led 1-0 until the bottom of the fifth inning when Voth reached on a fielder's choice to score Valera and tie the game. Arrmabide followed with single to left field and scored Voth to make it 2-1.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Varela singled to short and Orf scored on the play for a 3-1 lead. 

Campbell pitched the entire game for the Scots and allowed three hits, one run and struck out eight batters.
Varela had three hits, Arrambide had two hits, McCance had two hits and Orf had two hits in the game.
