BATEVILLE, Arkansas - Lyon College Scots baseball dropped a doubleheader to the University of Dallas Crusaders 3-0 and 6-4 on Saturday afternoon at Fred Wann Field.
The Scots (0-5) were shut out in the first game as Dallas pitching scattered Lyon hits.
Logan Doody,
Logan Lightner,
Thomas Lingren and
Bradley McLemore were the only Scots batters to get hits. Lyon College batting struck out 10 times and left three runners on base in the game.
Ayden Heitmann suffered the loss for Lyon College Heitmann pitched seven innings, gave up seven runs, three hits and three runs. He walked two batters and struck out five.
Lightner singled up the middle with one out in the bottom of the first inning, Doody singled in the third, Lingren's base hit came in the fourth and McLemore singled to right center with two outs in the seventh.
After Dallas took a 2-0 lead in the second game against Scots pitcher
Cameron Gordon, Lyon College came back in the bottom of the fifth inning to score three runs and take a one-run lead.
Braden Hendrix reached on an error, Doody singled to right center, Lightner doubled down the right field like to score both Hendrix and Doody and tie the game 2-2. With two outs,
Kooper McCoy singled through the right side to bring in Ligthner and give the Scots a 3-2 advantage.
Dallas came back to score two more runs in the top of the sixth and one in the top of the seventh. The Scots threatened some in the bottom half of the seventh when Lightner reached second on an error by the Crusaders left fielder. He moved to third on a balk and scored when McLemore reached on an error by the shortstop. McCoy added a single to advance pinch runner
Caleb Collins to second with two outs and both were left stranded on base.
