Samantha Taylor scored 31 points in just 32 minutes of play to lead the Lyon College Scots past the Hendrix College Warriors 79-76 on Tuesday night in Conway.
Taylor put in a short jumper with 1:08 to go in the game to put the Scots (2-0) up 76-74, but after Hendrix tied the game, Natayla Kaza, who had 20 points for Lyon College, made a game-winning three-point play with 32 seconds left to seal the win.
The Scots led 20-15 after the first quarter and held on to a slim 35-34 lead by halftime despite being in foul trouble. Dayle Hambleton,

Savanna Lopez combined to lead Lyon College to a 57-56Â lead before Taylor was fouled in the final second and sank three free throws to push the lead to four points with no time on the clock.
Taylor made 11-of-20 field goals, hit 2-of-4 three-pointers and was 7-of-8 from the free throw line to go with six rebounds, five assists and five steals. She played the entire fourth quarter with four personal fouls.Â
Kaza was 7-of-16 from the field, made 3-of-7 three-pointers and was perfect from the free throw line on three attempts.Â
Hambleton scored eight points and led the Scots with eight rebounds. Shelton scored eight points and was 2-of-4 on three-pointers to go with three assists. Lopez added seven points and hauled down six rebounds, while Cooper put in five points, including a momentum-shifting basket in the fourth quarter and had five rebounds.
There were 17 lead changes in the game and it was tied 10 times.
The Scots scored 26 points in the paint, had 27 points off of 27 Hendrix turnovers, scored 13 second-chance points, had 26 fast-break points and got 36 points from non-starters.
The Lyon College women will be in action again on Saturday afternoon against Austin College in the annual Furry Frenzy Toy Toss game beginning at 1 p.m. at Becknell Gymnasium.
