BATESVILLE, Arkansas - The Lyon College Scots are still in contention for a SLIAC title, but Wednesday's 1-1 draw at Huser Field with the Greenville Panthers hurt their chances of winning the title outright.
With some help from some other teams the Scots (6-5-4 and 4-1-2) and a win against Principia, who plays at Lyon on Saturday, they could find themselves back in the thick of the league title race.
The Scots only goal came on a penalty kick at the 53:22 mark of the second half on a netted kick from
Joao Barros. The Panthers came back to tie the game in the 76th minute.
Lyon had a chance to score in the final seconds, but the kick was blocked from the goal and the game ended.
Matheus Nunes had a shot in the match for the Scots,
Gustavo Giesbrecht had two on-goal kicks, Barros scored his only on-goal shot and Luca Ciricgliano had a shot on-goal.
Lyon College goalie
Gabriel Rangel had four saves on the afternoon.
