Lyon College falls to Centenary on Homecoming, Scots Fest Weekend in Batesville

BATESVILLE, Arkansas - Lyon College nearly pulled off a SCAC win on Saturday afternoon in Batesville, but a late interception led to a Centenary touchdown and a Scots 28-21 loss at Pioneer Stadium.

The Scots (1-6, 0-5) led 21-14 in the third quarter, but gave up the tying score touchdown with 1:54 to go in the game. An untimely interception resulted in Centenary scoring with 15 seconds remaining to get the win. 

Lyon College opened the game with a 4-yard touchdown run from Jaylin Babers with 9:54 on the clock in the first quarter. Jesus Romero-Castillo added the extra point for a 7-0 lead. 

Centenary came back to tie the game with 2:14 left in the first quarter.

Aedan Huntsman blocked a Centenary punt and Mark Brown grabbed the loose ball and ran it in for a 32-yard touchdown at the 9:55 mark. A bad-snap on the extra point attempt put the Scots up 13-7.

Centenary scored with 6:13 left in the second quarter to take a 14-13 lead.

The Scots gabbed the lead back with 5:55 left in the third quarter, when quarterback Grayson Johnson ran in from 24-yards out and Babers scored a 2-point conversion on a Joe Galay pass. 

Individually, Johnson was 14-of-18 passing for 155 yards. Babers rushed 27 times for 106 yards and scored a touchdown and a 2-point conversion. Johnson ran five times for 36 yards and scored a touchdown. 
Javarion Williams had three catches for 74 yards, Huntsman had five receptions for 49 yards, Reggie Brown II had four catches for 39 yards, while Cliff Washington had one catch for seven yards, Xavier Long had one reception for one yard and Babers had two catches for one yard. 

Defensively, Mason Davis had 10 tackles and a sack. La'Kendrin Moore had nine tackles, Michael Wingo had seven tackles and Nate Sarver had four tackles to lead the Scots.
