Madison, SaSaroga, McCullough lead Scots past Beavers 96-82 to remain atop SLIAC standings

BATESVILLE, Arkansas - Malik Madison scored 18 points, had nine blocks and nine rebounds, while Nikola SaSaroga scored 18 points, Kylon McCullough scored 17 points, Frank Toney added 14 and Jones White scored 12 points to lead the Lyon College Scots past the Blackburn College Beavers 96-82 in SLIAC action at Becknell Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.

The Scots (8-3, 5-0) stayed in the top spot of the SLIAC standings with the victory over the Beavers, who had previously been beaten once in the league. Others to score for the Scots included nine points from Trent Bell, three points each from Jaaron Harriott and Luke Bridges, while John Paul Morgan had two points, six rebounds and six assists.  

The 96 points was the most points scored in a game this year by Lyon College. 

The Beavers opened the game with a three-pointer, but Madison scored in the paint, SaSaroga put in two free throws and Madison scored again on assist from Bell. SaSaroga added another free throw and Madison scored in the paint. Madison put down another shot, then dunked off a Toney steal to tie the game at 12-12. Seconds later, Toney put the Scots up with a three-pointer. Toney made another jumper for the lead a few seconds after that, then McCullough scored. 
Baskets from SaSaroga and Bell kept Lyon College in front by three points, but Blackburn came back to go ahead by a basket. SaSaroga put in a free throw and Madison made a jumper to put the Scots back in front, 26-25. After the Beavers tied the game, White knocked down a three-pointer, made a jump shot and another three-pointer in succession to put the Scots up by four point, 36-32 with 6:29 to go in the first half.
SaSaroga put in a layup, McCullough scored, SaSaroga drove in for  a layup and McCullough put in a jumper off the fast-break. McCullough hit another jump shot and Bell got open for a jumper then a block by Madison led to a layup from Toney just before the buzzer to put Lyon College up 50-38 at halftime.

McCullough and Bell both made free throws for the Scots to start the second half. SaSaroga spun in the lane for a short jumper, scored again on a layup and passed to Toney for a three-pointer and a 60-43 Lyon College lead at the 16:55 mark. 
McCullough scored twice in a row, Madison put down a dunk and Bell made a three-pointer. White put in a layup off a fast-break, Morgan scored inside, Bridges came in to score for an 18-point Scots lead 75-57 with 10:32 left in the contest. 
Bridges added a free throw, Harriott made a three-pointer and Madison got a dunk for an 81-68 lead. Blackburn got to within 10 points with 6:38 to play, but Toney scored, SaSaroga had consecutive baskets on inside moves and completed a three-point play, McCullough scored and Madison got another dunk for a 92-73 Lyon College lead with 3:24 left. McCullough and Toney both scored on baskets for Lyon College.
