Madison gets double-double in Scots win over Westminster

BATESVILLE, Arkansas - Malik Madison scored 18 points and had 10 rebounds, Frank Toney scored 20 points and had eight assists, Israel Palmer added 17 points, Kylon McCullough added 16, Nikola SaSaroga added 14 points and nine rebounds to lead the Lyon College Scots over the Westminster Blue Jays 96-82 to improve to 9-5 overall and are at 6-2 in the SLIAC.

The Scots led 46-39 at halftime and put up 50 more points in the second half to keep a double-digit lead for most of the game.

Two baskets early from SaSaroga and a three-pointer by Toney led to a 7-0 Lyon College lead early in the first half. After free throws from Palmer and Madison, the Scots got two straight field goals from Palmer, then a three-pointer and a jump shot from Toney to lead 20-9. John Paul Morgan came in to get a shot to fall inside, Palmer scored again, then Palmer and Toney hit consecutive jumpers. McCullough added a three-pointer and two free throws, Palmer scored again and McCullough hit a three-pointer. Baskets by Madison, Toney and SaSaroga put the Scots up by seven points at halftime, 46-39.

SaSaroga scored inside, Madison had a dunk and added a free throw to complete a three-point play. SaSaroga had a dunk and added two free throws, while McCullough hit another jumper to make it a 57-41 Lyon College lead. Toney and Palmer made back-to-back three-pointers, Madison had three more jams for a 71-52 Scots advantage with 10:00 minutes to go. 
Madison scored again to give the Scots their largest lead at 21 points, then Jones White put in two baskets in a row. Jaaron Harriott and Madison made free throws. David Baffour had a baseline dunk to make it 81-62 with 6:12 to go. Palmer made a free throw, SaSaroga got another dunk, McCullough hit a jump shot, Morgan scored inside and McCullough put in a layup for a 90-73 Lyon lead with 2:36 to play. Toney made a three-pointer for a 96-88 lead with 22 seconds remaining.

The Scots return home on Saturday to play Webster University at 3 p.m.
