Lyon College men's soccer defeats University of Dallas to take Texas sweep

IRVING, Texas - The Lyon College Scots men's soccer team defeated the University of Dallas on Sunday afternoon 2-1 to sweep two days of competition in Texas.

The Scots improved their overall record to 3-4 with the victory.

Lyon College got its first goal by Andrei Galca on a double assist by Erick Oliveira and Martin Esquivel.  Andrei Galca scored the second goal at the 54:39 mark of the second half on a penalty kick after Dallas had scored to tie the game in the first half.

The Scots took 16 shots at the goal and four of them were on-goal kicks. Esquivel had one shot on goal, Galca had two shots on goal and two scores, Oliveira had three shots and one on-goal kick, Rafael Campos had two shots, Cristian Cruz took one shot , Filipe Santana de Oliveria  had five shots, Micah Rangel had one shot as did Cristian Del Gobbo. 
Goal keeper Lance Scudder had two saves in the match.

Lyon started off quick with Galca's first score coming 4:35 into the first half. After Dallas took two shots, UD eventually tied the game at the 20:03 mark with a goal. They took another shot on goal afterwards and it was saved by Scudder.

Meanwhile, Micah Rangel missed a shot left, de Oliveira missed wide left. Another shot by de Oliveira missed high Cruz's shot was just off the top of the goal before the first half ended.

Campos started the second half with the Scots on the attack and missed just high of the goal. Then de Oliveira missed high, but two fouls on Dallas allowed Galca to put in a penalty kick for a 2-1 Lyon College lead at the 54:39 mark of the second half.

From there, the Scots didn't let up on their attack with de Oliveira getting two more shots at the goal, Campos put a kick just high, de Oliveira had two more shots before the 80 minute mark. Del Gobbo's shot came with less than seven minutes remaining in the match and Esquivell had a shot on goal that was saved at the 86:20 mark.

Defensively, the Scots kept Dallas down to only four shots and none were on-goal kicks.
