ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Lyon College Scots scored six times in the sixth inning, six times in the seventh inning and had eight more runs in the top of the ninth inning to overtake the Harris-Stowe Hornets 21-5 in American Midwest Conference play on Saturday afternoon at Star Park in St. Louis.
The Scots (15-15, 8-4) trailed 4-1 to the Hornets until the sixth inning.Â
Harris-Stowe scored in the bottom of the third inning and added three runs in the bottom of the fourth.Â
Lyon College scored its first run in the top of the fifth inning when
Logan Lightner hit a sacrifice fly to left field to bring in
Garrett Graef to make it 4-1.
In the top of the sixth inning,
Jayden Cull singled to bring in
Bradley McLemore,
Lane McLeavain singled up the middle to bring in Cull,
Hayden Hargrave walked and McLeavain scored on wild pitch.
Derek Underwood reached first on an error by the Harris-Stowe left fielder and advanced to second on an error by the third baseman on the same play and scored on an overthrow to third. Graef and Hargrave scored ahead of Underwood to make it 7-4.Â
In the top of the seventh inning, Cull  scored on an error by the Hornets pitcher, Hargrave singled in McLeavain, Underwood hit a sacrifice fly to score Graef.
Austin Shipman walked with the bases loaded to score Hargrave, McLemore singled in
Zane Wallace and Cull hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score Lightner to make it 13-4.
In the top of the ninth,
Balah Muhammed singled to left field to bring in
Brayden Anderson.
Mac Fox doubled to left field to score
Brayden Graham and Muhammed. Anderson singled to first base that scored Fox.
Kyle Carver singled to center field to bring in Wallace and Anderson to make it 21-4.
Jesse McGonigal started the game on the mound for the Scots. He pitched four innings, gave up six hits, four runs and walked three.
Beau Smith came to pitch four innings and he gave up one run and struck out four to earn the win for Lyon College.
Rhett Crafton came in to pitch the ninth inning for the Scots and gave up two hits and one run, while striking out two.
