Scots softball wins one of two games at Hannibal-LaGrange

HANNIBAL, Missouri - The Lyon College softball Scots split an American Midwest Conference double-header with the Hannibal LaGrange Trojans on Friday afternoon in Hannibal, Missouri.

The Scots (15-15, 3-7) won the first game 4-3 and lost the second game 6-5.

In the first game, Sophie Varela singled up the middle to score Whitney Mitchell. Emily Martinez advanced to second, which allowed Trinity Arrambide to steal home for a 2-0 lead. 
Varela scored on an error in the top of the third inning. Lyon added another run in the fifth inning when McKenzie Campbell hit to fielder's choice that scored Anna Voth to make it 4-2.

Mitchell was 2-for-4 with a run scored, Varela was 3-for-3 with a fun scored and had an RBI., Arrambide had a hit and Alyssa Buentello had a hit.

Campbell was the winning pitcher. She went seven innings, gave up seven hits and three runs, two of which were earned. Campbell had eight strike outs. 

In the second game, Lyon College had a 3-0 lead through three innings. 
Varela tripled in Voth in the top of the first inning, then MK Duffield hit a sacrifice grounder that brought home Varela, then in the third inning, Duffield singled in Varela.
The Trojans scored four runs in the third and two more in the fifth to lead 6-3.

In the top of the sixth inning, Varela singled in Mitchell and Voth scored on a passed ball to make it 6-5.
Buentello suffered the loss. She pitched four innings and allowed four runs and had two strike outs. Campbell pitched the remaining three innings and gave up two runs.
