ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Lyon College Diamond Scots dropped an American Midwest Conference double-header to the Missouri Baptist Spartans on Friday afternoon at Spartan Field.
The Scots (16-20, 9-8) lost the first game to the No. 8-ranked Spartans 9-1 and fell 16-1 in the second game of the day.
In the first game, the Scots didn't score until the top of the seventh inning when
Kyle Carver doubled in
Andre Davis. Carver and
Bradley McLemore had the only two hits for Lyon College in the game. Davis and
Zane Wallace walked.
Cameron Gordon suffered the loss and
Nick Chaney came in to pitch the final 1.1 innings.
In the second game, Lyon College trailed 7-0 until the top of the second inning when
Logan Lightner hit a sacrifice grounder to bring in
Hayden Hargrave.Â
The Scots had five hits, one by
Derek Underwood, two from Hargrave, one from
Garrett Graef and Wallace had the other hit. Lightner walked.
Ayden Heitmann got the loss, while
Joe Galay came in to pitch 1.1 innings and Calvin Hedgepth pitched the final 3.1 innings.
