BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Lyon College Softball Scots dropped an American Midwest Conference double-header to the Columbia College Cougars on Sunday afternoon at Howard and Mary House Field, 13-0 and 9-1.
The Scots (14-1, 2-6) were coming off a double-header sweep of Stephens College on Saturday.
In the first game, Lyon College fell behind 1-0, but the Cougars piled on a 10-run second inning and added two more runs in the third to take the win in five innings.
The Scots were held to just one hit in the game.
Whitney Mitchell got the only hit for Lyon College in two at-bats and as a team, the Scots struck out nine times.
In the second game, Columbia led 6-0 until
Emily Martinez reached first on an error in the top of the fourth inning and
Sophie Varela scored on the play to make it 6-1.Â
The Cougars add three ore runs to end the game in the sixth inning.
Anna Voth and MK Duffield had the only two hits in the second game for Lyon College.
