BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Lyon College Scots baseball team dropped a 6-4 decision to the visiting Columbia College Cougars in American Midwest Conference play at Fred Wann Field on Sunday afternoon.
The Scots (13-14, 6-3) started off with four runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Derek Underwood doubled in
Hayden Hargrave.
Jayden Cull doubled in Underwood and
Garrett Graef reached first on an error that scored
Lane McLeavain and Cull for a 4-0 lead.
Columbia College came back with a run in the top of the second and top of the sixth. In the seventh, the Cougars tied the game with two runs and took the lead with runs each in the eighth and ninth innings.Â
The Scots had six hits in the game,
Bradley McLemore,
Austin Shipman, Underwood, McLeavain, Cull and
Beau Smith. Lyon College left 10 men stranded and struck out 10 times.
Jesse McGonigal started the game and pitched for four innings, giving up one earned run in 18 batters he faced. Underwood came in to pitch 3.2 innings and gave up five hits, four runs and had two strike outs. Smith finished the game going 1.1 innings and giving up two hits and one run.
