BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Lyon College baseball Scots swept a double-header on Monday night from the Randall University Saints in non-conference action at Fred Wann Field in Batesville.
The Scots (12-12, 5-1) won the first game 7-2 and came from behind in the second game to win 12-7.
In Game 1,
Derek Underwood singled in
Logan Lightner for a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.Â
Bradley McLemore belted a three-run homer in the bottom of the second inning that brought in Lightner and
Lane McLeavain for a 4-0 lead.
Randall added a run in the top of the third inning, but Lyon came back to get a run in the bottom of the third when Underwood scored from third base on a balk by the Saints pitcher.
Lightner doubled in
Hayden Hargrave and
Austin Shipman hit a sacrifice grounder to second to bring in
Zane Wallace for a 7-1 lead.Â
Beau Smith picked up the win on the mound for the Scots, going six innings, he gave up three hits one unearned run and struck out four of the 27 batters he faced.
Calvin Hedgepeth came in to get the save, throwing for one inning. He allowed one hit and one earned run and struck out one of the six batters he faced.Â
In Game 2,
Jayden Cull singed in the bottom of the first inning to bring McLemore and McLeavain doubled in
Garrett Graef for a 2-1 lead.
Randall scored two runs in the second and four runs in the fourth to lead 7-2.
In the bottom of the fifth, Graef walked with the bases loaded to bring Lightner then McLeavain singled in Cull and McLemore to make it 7-5.
In the bottom of the sixth, Graef walked again with the bases loaded to bring Lightner again. McLeavain blasted a three-run double to bring in McLemore, pinch-runner
Pierce Corbo and Graef. Hargrave followed with a single to bring in McLeavain and Lightner was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring in Hargrave for a 12-7 lead.Â
Brayden Anderson started on the mound for the Scots pitching for 2.1 innings. He gave up six hits, three earned runs and struck out three batters of the 15 he faced.
Nick Chaney came in to throw for one inning and allowed two hits and three earned runs. Lightner pitched the final 3.2 innings and picked up the win for Lyon College. He gave up six hits and one earned run, while striking out two batters.
The Scots will be back in American Midwest Conference play this weekend at Fred Wann Field against the Columbia Cougars.
