Scots defeat Mustangs 12-3 to win AMC series

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Lyon College baseball Scots defeated the Central Baptist College Mustangs 12-3 in nine innings on Sunday afternoon in the the third game of the American Midwest Conference series at DeSalvo Memorial Field in North Little Rock's Burns Park.

The Scots (10-12, 5-1) led 5-0 in the top of the third and scored seven times in the top of the ninth to break open a 5-3 game.

In the top of the first inning, Derek Underwood singled to center field and scored Logan Lightner and Bradley McLemore for a 2-0 Lyon College lead. 
Underwood reached on a fielder's choice to bring in Thomas Lingren and Logan McLevain singled to center field to score Lightner. Jayden Cull scored on a balk for a 5-0 lead.
CBC scored in the bottom of the third inning and added one run each in the bottom of the fifth and seventh innings.
In the top of the ninth, Hayden Hargrave singled through the left side to score Zane Wallace. Lightner singled up the middle to bring in McLemore and Hargrave. Cull singled up the middle to score Lightner and Garrett Graef doubled down the left field line to bring in Underwood. Wallace walked with the bases loaded to bring in Cull and Austin Shipman walked to score Graef to make it 12-3.

Jesse McGonigal pitched 7.1 innings and gave up eight hits, three earned runs and struck out one. Underwood came in to get the save and pitched 1.2 innings and allowed only two hits and struck out two batters. 

The Scots had 11 hits in the game, McLemore, Lightner and Graef doubled for the Scots. Lightner, Underwood and Cull all had stolen bases and Lightner and Kyle Carver were hit by pitches.
