COLUMBIA, MO. - The Lyon College Softball Scots lost a American Midwest Conference double-header to the William Woods Owls in Columbia, Missouri on Saturday afternoon.
The Scots (12-10, 0-2) were shut out in both games, losing 5-0 and 6-0.
In Game 1, William Woods scored a run in the second, fourth and two runs in the fifth to win by five. The Scots were held to only two hits, one by
Sophie Varela and the other by
McKenzie Campbell. Campbell was the losing pitcher, going six full innings and striking out six batters.
In Game 2, the Owls broke a scoreless game with a 5-run fifth inning. They added another run in the bottom of the sixth inning to win by six.
Once again, the Scots were held to only two hits in the game.
Anna Voth and
Whitney Mitchell had both hits for Lyon College.
Alyssa Buentello suffered the loss on teh mound going 4.1 innings, allowing five runs and striking out three.
Sabrina Lowe came in to pitch for 1.2 innings and she allowed one run and struck out three batters.
