Scots softball splits double-header at Hendrix College

CONWAY, Ark. - The Lyon College Scots softball team split a double-header against the Hendrix College Warriors on Wednesday afternoon in Conway.

The Scots (12-8) won the first game 4-0 and their comeback just fell short in a 7-5 loss in the second game.

In the first game, Lyon College had seven hits and scored all four of its runs in the top of the eighth inning.
Fallon Lancaster singled in the top fo the second inning, but was left stranded. 
Anna Voth had a single to center field in the top of the sixth, but didn't score. 
In the top of the eighth, Alyssa Buentello was placed on second base for the international tie-breaking rules, then Emily Martinez singled to center field to advance Buentello to third base. Trinity Arrambide doubled to center field that scored Buentello. Sophie Varela singled to center field and scored Martinez, then Voth singled to bring in Arrambide. McKenzie Campbell singled to center field to load the bases. Lancaster reached on a fielder's choice where Varela scored for a 4-0 lead.

Campbell (7-3) went the distance on the mound for the Scots. She gave up four hits and had two strike outs of the 28 batters she faced.

In the second game, Hendrix led 5-0 until Campbell singled to bring in Varela and Arrambide in teh top of the fifth inning. Lancaster hit a sacrifice fly to score Campbell and cut the Warriors lead to 5-3.
Lyon tied the game in the top of the sixth inning when Campbell singled to left center to score Varela and Arrambide and tie the game 5-5.
The Warriors scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth and held the Scots scoreless in the top of the seventh. 

Sabrina Lowe (2-2) suffered the loss for the Scots. She pitched one inning, gave up one hit, one earned run and walked four. Campbell pitched for two innings and gave up five hits and two earned runs, then Buentello pitched the last three innings and gave up four hits and two runs, while striking out three.
