LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Lyon College Scots softball team is on a 10-game winning streak after defeating the Arkansas Baptist Buffaloes 6-1 and 10-3 at J.A. Fair High School field in Little Rock on Saturday afternoon.
It was the second time this season that the Scots (10-6) have swept the Buffaloes (10-19).Â
In the first game,
Fallon Lancaster hit a sacrifice grounder to bring in
Sophie Varela for the game's first run, then
Whitney Mitchell tripled to score
Anna Voth and MK Duffield for a 3-0 lead.
The Buffaloes scored one run in the bottom of the first inning, but Lyon College added three more runs in the top of the second inning to go up 6-1.
Lancaster hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score
Emily Martinez. Duffield singled in Varela and
Savannah Lee walked and Voth stole home.Â
The Scots had six runs on eight hits. Mitchell and
McKenzie Campbell doubled and Mitchell had a triple in four at-bats. Campbell (5-4) picked up the win, going five innings and allowing one earned run, while striking out eight of the 27 batters she faced.Â
In Game 2, the Scots scored 10 runs on 10 hits and
Sabrina Lowe picked up the win from the mound in a 10-3 win.
Campbell singled in Mitchell in the top fo the second inning to put Lyon College ahead 1-0.Â
The Scots scored five runs in the top of the third inning to go up 6-0.
Voth singled in
Trinity Arrambide, Lancaster reached first on an error that scored Varela, Lee singled in Voth,
Alyssa Buentello walked with the bases loaded to bring in Lancaster and Martinez hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Lee.Â
In the seventh, Campbell singled in Mitchell, Martinez tripled to score Campbell, Arrambide hit a sacrifice fly to center field that brought in Martinez, then Varela scored when Lancaster reached on an fielder's choice.
