CONWAY, Ark. - The Lyon College Scots dropped an 88-80 decision to the Central Baptist College Mustangs on Thursday night in American Midwest Conference play.
The Scots (8-13, 4-10) trailed 41-37 at halftime and were outscored 47-41 in the second half.
Sando Hill led the Scots with 29 points, while
Nikola SaSaroga scored 22 points and
Trenton Bell added 18 in the loss.
John Paul Morgan added nine more rebounds to move his career rebound record to 517.
The Scots got 38 points in the paint, scored six points off of turnovers and had 11 second-chance points.
Hill started the scoring with a three-pointer, SaSaroga scored, Bell put in a three-pointer and
Gavin Brunson put in a layup. Bell dunked and SaSarogra put in a layup for a seven-point Lyon College lead, 16-9. CBC came back to take a 22-16 lead. Hill scored Morgan put in a basket, Hill scored again. Morgan put in another basket, Hill scored on a layup and Morgan put in a shot in the paint. Hill scored the next five points for the Scots and cut the Mustangs lead to 32-20 with 4:22 left in the first quarter. SaSaroga tied the game 34-34 on a layup two minutes later. Hill scored to give the Scots the lead, then two minutes later SaSaroga tied the game at 38-38 on a jumper.
SaSaroga scored and Bell put in a three-pointer that tied the game at 43-43. Hill hit a jump shot and Bell tied the game at 48-48. CBC led by eight points, 56-48 when Morgan scored and Bell hit a three-pointer. Hill made a three-pointer to tie the game at 56-56 with 13:04 left. Bell put Lyon in front at the 12:25 mark 59-57 with a three-pointer and a few minutes later, Bell made another three-pointer for a 62-62 tie. SaSaroga tied the game with a shot inside. The Mustangs went on an 8-0 run before Hill scored in the paint and SaSaroga hit a three-pointer to make it 72-69. From there, CBC outscored Lyon 16-11 the rest of the way.
