BATESVILLE, ARK. - Scots' starting pitcher
Ayden Heitmann threw a one-hitter in Lyon College's 3-1 win over the visiting University of St. Francis Saints on Friday afternoon at Fred Wann Field in Batesville.
Heitmann threw nine innings, gave up one hit and one run that was unearned. He walked a batter and struck out four of the 31 batters he faced. Heitmann had a no-hitter going through eight innings The Scots (1-3) provided enough runs, each from
Jayden Cull, Logan Ligthner and
Hayden Hargrave.
Cull tripled with one out in the top of the first inning and scored when
Jesse McGonigal singled. The game stayed 1-0 until Lyon scored again in the bottom of the fourth inning when Lightner singled with one out and
Derek Underwood brought him in with a two-out base hit.
St. Francis scored its only run in the top of the fifth on a two-base error and a sacrifice fly to right field, 2-1.
The game stayed 2-1 until Hargrave belted a solo homer to left field to put the Scots up 3-1.
