Scots defeat Bacone College 85-76

BATESVILLE, ARK. - Trenton Bell scored 25 points, Nikola SaSaroga added 17, John Paul Morgan scored 16 and hauled in 10 rebounds and Israel Palmer scored 15 points to lead the Lyon College Scots past the visiting Bacone College Warriors 85-76 on Wednesday night at Becknell Gymnasium. 

The Scots (9-14) got 10 points in the paint, scored 23 points off a turnovers, had 14 second-chance points and got 10 points from the bench.  Devan Halford came in to get eight of those 10 on two three-pointers and a layup for Lyon College. Sando Hill and John Michael Stastny scored two points each.

SaSaroga scored inside and Bell hit a three-pointer to start the game for the Scots. SaSaroga scored two more times inside and Bell made another three-pointer for a 12-4 lead. Bacone went on a 12-0 run to take a 16-12 lead before Morgan scored. He scored again inside and stepped out for a 3-pointer to put Lyon College up 19-16. Haford made a three-pointer and Bell connected on a three-pointer and made three free throws to make it a 28-16 lead. Palmer completed a three-point play and SaSaroga made two free throws for a 17-point advantage for the Scots with 7:23 to go before halftime.
Bacone came back to outscore Lyon 11-2 over the next four minutes to close the gap to eight points, 35-26. Stastny scored inside and Hill broke free for a dunk.The Warriors got as close as four points 39-35 before Palmer secured a five-point halftime lead with a free throw with three seconds left in the half.

Bacone scored the first basket of the second half to get within three points, but SaSaroga scored, Palmer hit a jump shot and SaSaroga scored inside again to push the Lyon lead back to nine points, 46-37. Bell made two free throws, Morgan scored and Palmer put in a basket. The Warriors stayed within the seven to 10 point range, but got as close as 59-55 with 8:45 to go. SaSaroga scored three times in a row and Morgan added two free throws and a jumper inside for an 11-point lead. Bell made two three pointers and Halford hit another for a 79-68 lead for Lyon with 3:15 to go.
