HANNIBAL, MO. - Five Lyon College Scots scored in double-figures in an 85-62 American Midwest Conference win against the Hannibal-LaGrange Trojans on Saturday afternoon in Hannibal, Missouri.
Allison Byars scored 21 points,
Natalya Kaza had 19 points,
Savanna Lopez scored 15,
Kristen Baham added 13 points and
Mari-Hanna Newsom scored 11 points for the Scots (10-13, 9-10).
The Scots outscored the Trojans 23-21 in the first quarter and 18-11 in the second period to open up a 41-33 halftime lead. Lyon College separated themselves for good from Hannibal with a 32-20 third quarter.
The Scots scored 40 points in the paint during the game, had 17 points off of turnovers and 21 second chance points. They got 36 points from bench players and led by as much as 26 points in the fourth quarter.
Kaza led the Scots with nine points in the first quarter and Baham added six. Lyon shot 58.8 percent from the field on 10-of-17 shooting. Kaza added eight more points in the second quarter, going 4-for-4 at the free throw line in the period. Byars, Lopez, Baham and
Blake Green scored.Â
Byars scored 14 points and Newsom had all 11 of her points in the third quarter. Baham added five points as the Scots shot 60 percent from the field, hitting 12-of-20 shots and breaking out to a 73-53 lead.
Lopez led the scoring in the fourth quarter with eight points. Byars and Kaza both scored in the period, as well.
