Oklahoma Wesleyan sweeps series with Scots

BARTLESVILLE, OK. - The Lyon College Scots baseball team dropped a double-header to the Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles on Saturday afternoon 6-1 and 8-2 at Doenges Field.

In the first game, the Scots (0-3) took a 1-0 lead on a Jayden Cull home run in the top of the third inning. OKWU came back to tie the game in the fourth with a double and the Eagles took the lead in the sixth with five runs. 

Zane Wallace, Cull, Logan Lightner and Garret Graef accounted for all four of Lyon's hits in the game. Cameron Gordon took the loss for the Scots, pitching five innings, giving up eight hits, two earned runs and striking out six batters of the 24 he faced. Austin Shipman came in to pitch two outs and during his time he gave up two hits and three earned runs. Matt Wamsley came and gave up two hits and one earned run before Nick Chaney came to finish out the inning and go 2.1 with one strikeout and allowing no hits or runs.

In the second game, the Scots trailed 1-0 when Logan Lightner belted a homer run to tie the game in the top of the second inning. OKWU hit two 2-run homers in the bottom of the second to take a 5-1 lead. 
Lyon scored again in the top of the third when Jesse McGonigal singled to centerfield and that scored Hayden Hargrave from third to make it 5-2. The Eagles tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Brayden Anderson suffered the loss from the mound for the Scots, going 1.2 innings, giving up five hits and five runs, four of which were earned. Graef came in to pitch for 1.1 inning, Ian Jackson followed with 1.1 innings pitched and gave up a hit and two earned runs, while striking out two. Beau Smith pitched .1 inning and allowed an earned run on three walks and Lightner pitched 1.1 innings and got one strikeout.
