Four score in double-figures for Lyon College women in 104-40 blow out of Ecclesia College

BATESVILLE, Arkansas - After a 32-10 first quarter, the Lyon College women's basketball team rolled to 104-40 win over visiting Ecclesia College on Saturday afternoon at Becknell Gymnasium.

The Scots (3-2) got 19 points from Savanna Lopez, 17 points from Stella Parker, Zharia Childress cored 13 and Natalya Kaza scored 10, but everyone played who was dressed out for the game. Allison Byars had eight points and dished out seven assists, Samantha Taylor had eight points, seven assists and six steals. Olivia Jones came in for eight points, Brooklyn Rowe put in eight points, Shawna Carlton added six points, Blake Green scored four and Alexis Soloman hit a three-pointer. Mia Winston hauled in four rebounds and Leilani Regino had one assist and one steal.

The game started with a jump shot from Taylor and Ecclesia tied it at 2-2. That was the only tie in the contest, because the Scots got a jumper from Lopez, a steal from Taylor and another jumper from Lopez, a driving jumper from Parker, a steal from Byars and three free throws from Parker and Byars scored in the paint. Ecclesia fought back to make it 13-8, but Lyon College finished out the first quarter on a 19-2 run. 
Following a Taylor steal, Childress put in a short banker, Byars made a steal and Childress scored again. Taylor had another steal and Childress scored her third straight basket and added a free throw to complete a three-point play. Rowe made a steal and Byars connected for a basket. Parker scored in the paint, then Kaza made a steal and passed to Lopez for a basket. Taylor got another steal at mid-court and drove in for a layup, Childress scored and Taylor put in a jumper just before the buzzer to make it 32-10.

Lopez made two free throws and a basket to score the first four points for the Scots in the second period. Byars scored inside, then made a steal and Soloman drilled a three-pointer. Parker followed that with a three-pointer and Kaza put in a layup off a fast-break. Childress made two free throws, Parker hit a jump shot and Kaza made a three-pointer for a 53-14 lead. Carlton scored inside and Rowe hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to give Lyon College a 58-19 halftime lead.

Lopez opened the scoring for the Scots in the third quarter, Byars put in a jump shot and Kaza hit a short bank shot, then added a three-pointer to make it 67-24. Lopez scored the next seven points for Lyon, that included a three-point play. Childress hit inside and Green came in to score from the paint to put the Scots up by 50 points, 78-28 with 3:35 left in the third quarter. Jones scored two baskets in a row for an 82-32 lead by the end of the period.

Parker started the fourth quarter with a three-pointer, Taylor put in two free throws, Parker made two from the free throw line and Jones added a free throw for a 90-36 lead. Rowe hit a three-pointer and put in layup, then Jones got a basket off a steal from Regino and completed a three-point play for a 62-point Lyon College lead, 98-36. 
Green put in a jumper and, following a steal from Winston, Carlton added the final two baskets to lift the Scots over the century mark for the first time this season. 

Lyon College plays again on December 7 in its SLIAC opener at Fontbonne University.
