Kylon McCullough led the Scots (6-2, 3-0) with 16 points,
Nikola SaSaroga added 15 points,
Trenton Bell had 12 and
Frank Toney put in 10 points in a 94-65 win over the visiting Mississippi University for Women Owls on Tuesday night at Becknell Gymnasium.
Lyon College continues to lead the SLIAC standings with a perfect 3-0 record after recording its fifth straight win.
Malik Madison had nine points and six blocked shots,
Jaaron Harriott scored nine points ,
Jackson Midyett had six points,
Luke Bridges scored six points,
John Paul Morgan added five points and had five rebounds,
Israel Palmer scored four points, while
Isaiah Sweetwine scored two points in the win.
The Scots shot 62.5 percent from the field, made 12-of-21 three-pointers for 57 percent and hit 22-of-25 free throws for an 88 percent average against MUW. Lyon College led 47-31 at halftime and outscored the Owls 47-34 in the second stanza.
A McCulla three-pointer put the Scots up 9-3 early in the first half. McCullough made another shot, then Madison scored twice, including a dunk from the baseline. Toney put in a basket for an 18-10 Lyon College lead with 13:01 to go in the first half. SaSaroga scored inside, then Bell heated up with his first of four three-pointers on the night. McCullough added a basket, Bell hit his second trey, Morgan scored inside and Harriott hit a three-pointer for a 33-15 Lyon College lead at the 7:18 mark.
Madison sank two free throws and Bell drained his third three-pointer, Morgan completed a three-point play and gave the Scots a 21-point lead, 41-20. Harriott made two free throws, McCullough added a jumper and SaSaroga put in two free throws with three seconds to go that gave Lyon a 47-31 advantage.
SaSaroga started the second half with a free throw and then put in a basket. Toney made a layup to make 52-32 early. Palmer made a free throw and then connected on a three-pointer. McCullough made a three-pointer, SaSaroga put in a layup and Madison got free for a dunk for a 63-37 Lyon College lead with 14:58 to go.
SaSarogra made two free throws, Bell made his fourth three-pointer and Toney made a three-pointer. Two free throws from Harriott, led to a McCullough score in the paint, Toney made a three-pointer and Harriott added two more free throws for an 80-53 lead with 6:20 to go.Â
Bridges scored inside twice on consecutive trips for the Scots down-court. Bridges added two free throws and Midyett hit a three-pointer to give Lyon College a 30-point advantage with 3:06 to play, 89-59. Midyett made another three-pointer and Sweetwine put in two free throws to make it 94-65.
