Scots volleyball defeats Central Baptist College 3-0

BATESVILLE, Arkansas - The Lyon College volleyball Scots swept the Central Baptist College Mustangs 3-0 in straight sets on Tuesday night at Becknell Gymnasium in Batesville.

The Scots (7-10 overall) won the first set 25-17, won the second set 25-22 and took the match with a 25-17 win in the third set. 

Kylee Sabella led Lyon College in kills with 14, while Isabella Beasley had eight and Paeton Tucker added seven. Marti Flores had one ace, Keeley Beary had one block for a point, while Lauren White had 20 assists, Madeline Hopson had 15 assists and Flores added two. Sabella led in digs with 17, Flores had 16 and White 10 for the match

In the first set, Lyon broke a 12-12 tie when Sabella got a kill off a set from White, then four straight errors from CBC put the Scots up 17-12. Sabella got another kill from a set by Hopson and after an attack error by the Mustangs, Tucker got a kill and Janiya Vanderpool got a kill off a set by Hopson to lead 21-13. 
A kill by Beary and two errors put the contest at set point and a bad set by the Mustangs gave the Scots a 25-18 win.

In the second set, CBC was leading 17-15 when two errors and a service ace from Flores got the Scots the lead 19-17. Kills from Tucker, Beasley and Sabella put the game at set point and Sabella closed it out with a kill off a set from White, 25-22.

Lyon College jumped out to a 7-2 lead on three kills by Beasley and one from Beary all off of sets from White. CBC closed in to two points, but a kill from Tucker and an attack error made it 13-9 contest. The Mustangs to to within one point, but two attack errors and a kill from Beasley led to a kill from Tucker and Sabella for a 19-14 Scots lead.
Sabella made two kills off of sets from Flores and Hopson, then two attack errors put the set at match point. An attack error on CBC ended the match 25-17.
