GREENVILLE, Illinois - The Lyon College Scots volleyball team lost to host Greenville 3-0, but defeated Spalding 3-2 in a SLIAC tri-match at Greenville, Illinois on Saturday.
The Scots (14-16, 8-7)Â lost to Greenville 25-23, 25-16 and 25-16.
Paeton Tucker led Lyon in kills with nine, while
Isabella Beasley and
Kylee Sabella both had seven kills each.
Marti Flores had two ace serves and Sabella had one.
Keeley Beary had three blocks for points, while Beasley and Tucker had one apiece.
Madeline Hopson had 13 assists, Beasley had 12 and Tucker had one assist. Sabella led in digs with 19, Flores had 13 and Tucker had seven.
Against Spalding, Lyon won the first set 25-23 and won the second set 25-21. Spalding took the third set 25-23 and the fourth set 25-16, but the Scots held off a late rally to take the fifth and final set 15-10 to win the match.
Beasley and Sabella had 12 kills apiece to lead the Scots, while Tucker added 11. Beasley had four aces, Sabella had three and
Lauren White served two. Beary led in blocks with three, Sabella had two and
Bethany Williams also had two blocks for points. Beasley had 21 assists, Hopson had 19 and
Erin Haigwood added four. Sabella led in digs with 24, Tucker had 21 and Haigwood added 14.
The Scots will be at home in SLIAC action on Wednesday, November 1 against the Mississippi University for Women Owls beginning at 6 p.m. at Becknell Gymnasium.
