ELSAH, Illinois - On Saturday October 21, the Lyon College Women's Volleyball team participated in a SLIAC tri-match hosted by Principia College. The Scots won their first game of the day against the Principia College Panthers, then lost their next match to the Westminster College Blue Jays.
In the match against Principia, 5th year senior Erin Haigwood, made her first appearance since sustaining an injury in the second tournament of the season. The Scots proved to be too much for the Panthers as they won the first three sets in a row. Peyton Tucker led the Scots in kills for the game. Lyon was also able to show some of the depth in their roster by playing some fresh faces. These players were able to contribute quality minutes to the team's ultimate victory.
In the second game, the Scots fought a tough battle, but ultimately the Westminster Blue Jays swept Lyon in 3 sets. Isabella Beasley, Keeley Beary, and Marti Flores are a few of the Scots who led the team in statistical categories during the match.
The Lyon College volleyball team will return to play Tuesday October 24 in Paragould, Arkansas, where they will take on the Crowley's Ridge College Pioneers at 6 pm.
