CARLINVILLE, Illinois - Lyon College men's soccer defeated Blackburn College 2-0 on Thursday afternoon in SLIAC action at Carlinville, Illinois.
The Scots (7-5-1, 4-1-1) had goals from Erik Oliveria and
Micah Rangel, who was assisted by Oliveria.
Early shots from
Martin Esquivel and
Rafael Campos set the tone for the first half for the Scots. Esquivel got off another shot that was blocked.
Ronaldo Jacob had a shot go wide left and
Matheus Nunes shot went wide left, as well.
Andrei Galca had an on-goal kick that was saved and finally Oliveria's shot was netted at the 28:56 mark for a 1-0 Lyon College lead. Galca had another shot at the goal that hit the crossbar in the final three minutes of the first half.Â
In the second period, Nunes took two shots quickly for the Scots and Galca had another that was saved. A header shot from
Aidan McGeown was saved and Nunes had another shot blocked. At the 57:48 mark, Christian Del Gobbo had a shot go wide and
Taylor Prater had a shot go wide right. Galca's goal shot was saved and Filipe Santana De Oliveria had a shot blocked. Erick Oliveria had a second shot saved and Rangel's first show at the goal was high, Campos missed wide, but Rangel got the Scots second goal with 2:22 left in the match for a 2-0 Lyon College lead. Esquivel had another shot before the end of the game that was saved.Â
Lyon College will be in action on Saturday morning at 8 a.m. at Eureka College.
