Israel Palmer scored 17 points and
Trenton Bell put in 16 to lead the Lyon College Scots 70-52 over the visiting Hannibal-LaGrange Trojans in American Midwest Conference basketball action at Becknell Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
Delvonte McCloud and
Nikola SaSaroga both scored 13 points each and
John Paul Morgan scored seven points and had a season-high 15 rebounds for the Scots (5-7, 2-4).
The game was tied six times in the first half and Bell hit a jumper to make it 2-2, then Hannibal went up 6-3 minutes later. A three-pointer from SaSaroga gave the lead to the Scots and Morgan scored. The Trojans tied the game 9-9 and led by as much as five points 16-11, but Bell hit a three-pointer,
Luke Bridges came in off the bench to get a basket inside and Palmer made a three-pointer for a 20-20 tie. Bell, Palmer and SaSaroga scored to break a 26-26 tie and a 28-28 tie. Hannibal tied it at 30-30, but
Delvonte McCloud completed a three-point play with 38 seconds remaining to give the Scots the lead.
McCloud added two free throws and a basket, then Bell made two from the line for a 39-31 lead. SaSaroga made a three-pointer and McCloud added another free throw for a 10-point lead. Palmer hit two three-pointers in a row, Morgan scored twice inside before Bridges scored his second basket to make it 55-40.
