Trenton Bell scored 22 points, while
John Paul Morgan and
Israel Palmer scored 14 points each on Tuesday night in an American Midwest Conference 75-63 loss at Williams Baptist.
The Scots (5-8, 2-5) scored 42 points in the paint, had seven points off of turnovers, six second-chance points and only two fast-break points. Morgan finished off a double-double for the Scots with 13 rebounds.
Delvonte McCloud and Palmer scored early on for the Scots and Bell put in a shot to make it 16-10. Within three minutes, Williams Baptist led 27-14. The Eagles led by 17 points before Bell put in two free throws. He made a basket and two more free throws to cut the lead to 12 points. Morgan scored twice and
Nikola SaSaroga put in a layup to cut the Williams Baptist lead to 39-28 by halftime.
Despite a basket from SaSaroga and a free throw from Morgan, the Scots trailed 46-31 early in the second half. Bell scored two baskets in a row and added a free throw to cut the lead down to 12 points. Another jumper from Bell and a layup by Palmer got the Scots to within 10 points, 50-40. Bell hit a shot and Palmer got a dunk to cut the Eagles lead to seven points with 10:50 to play, 55-48.
Williams Baptist pushed its lead back to 15 points in three minutes, 68-53. Morgan made a three-pointer and Palmer scored to make it 10 points, but WBU led by 15 points again, 75-60 with 2:32 to go in the game.
