BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Lyon College men's soccer team battled the 12th-ranked Columbia Cougars to a 1-0 loss in the American Midwest Conference season-opener at Huser Field in Batesville.

Columbia scored its goal in the first half, but a strong push by the Scots (1-8-2, 0-1) in the second half allowed them to take nine shots on goal, but none found the net. 

Yannick Zwiebel, Mauro Garrentano, Fortunato Hernandez, Leonardo Galdino, Ronaldo Jacobs, Tavaris Wellington and Aidan McGeown all had shots for Lyon College.  Jevanni Hinkson took two shots on goal for the Scots against Columbia.

Goalie Dan Huff had four saves in the contest for the Scots.
