BATESVILLE, AR. - Lyon College had tied the game in the first part of the fourth quarter, but a
sustained 80-yard drive by Oklahoma Panhandle State resulted in a late score that provided the
outcome in a 26-19 Sooner Athletic Conference loss for the Scots on Saturday night at Pioneer
Stadium.
Lyon College (1-3, 0-2) scoring plays included a forced fumble picked up by
Keidrick Wooten
that was returned for 25 yards, a 34-yard field goal by freshmen place kicker and transfer from
the Arkansas Razorbacks,
Kevin Kargozar, a safety out of the end zone off a punt block by
Brandon Johnson just before halftime, and running back
Aedan Huntsman five-yard rushing
touchdown to tie the game at 19-19 in the fourth quarter.
Offensively, the Scots were led by running back
Emerson Price who rushed 19 times for 52
yards. Lyon College senior quarterback
Isaiah Bradford had five completions for 85 yards.
Three of Bradford's passes were completed to
Clifford Washington, who had three receptions
for 62 yards.
Mason Davis led the Scots defense with 11 tackles,
Christopher Bronson had 10 and Balah
Muhammad contributed nine stops.
Oklahoma Panhandle State University came back in the first quarter to score on a 14-yard
rushing touchdown to make the game 10-6 after the Scot's Will Litton blocked the extra point.
In the second quarter, Oklahoma Panhandle State University responded at the 12:05 mark on a
59-yard touchdown pass to give the Aggies a 12-10 advantage.
Coming out of halftime, the Scots received the ball and ended the first drive with a 23-yard punt
by
Jacob Ramirez. In the third quarter, the Aggies added a touchdown on a 75-yard pass to go
ahead 18-12 at the 10:27 mark. With eight seconds left in the quarter, the Scots found some
momentum when Davis forced a fumble from the Aggies quarterback Brandon Stephens and
Huntsman recovered the fumble to give the Scots the ball on the Panhandle State 13.
With 14:02 left in the game, Huntsman scored a touchdown on a five-yard rushing touchdown to
tie the game at 18-18. After a successful extra point from Kargozar, the Scots tied the game 19-
19.
The Aggies added a touchdown in the middle of the fourth quarter which ended up
being the difference maker as the Scots fell to the Aggies 26-19.
As a team, the Scots managed 154 yards of total offense with 85 of those coming through the
air. The Aggies totaled 353 yards for the game that included 283 passing yards.
The Scots return to action on October 1 against Langston University at 2 p.m. in Langston,
Oklahoma at W.E. Anderson Stadium.
