LANGSTON, Okla. - The Lyon College football Scots gave up 37 first half points in a 43-3 Sooner Athletic Conference loss at 25th-ranked Langston.
The Scots (1-4, 0-4) gave up 21 first quarter points and allowed 16 more in the second quarter to trail 37-0 at halftime. Langston scored on a 30-yard pass to complete 73-yard drive that took 2:48.Â
Although Lyon College's
Jacob Ramirez booted a 51-yard punt, with 4:25 left in the first quarter a 43-yard pass and extra point made it a 14-0 Langston lead.
With
Brady Miller in for the Scots at quarterback, a fourth-and-17 resulted in a blocked punt for a touchdown to put Langston up 21-0 with 3:29 remaining in the first quarter.
On the ensuing possession,
Emerson Price rushed for a 19-yard gain on first down, but was hit and fumbled the ball that was recovered by Langston. The Scots blocked a Langston punt late in the first quarter, but Miller was intercepted at the Langston 22.
In the second quarter,
Aedan Huntsman was caught behind the line of scrimmage and downed in the Lyon College end zone for a Langston safety with 12:40 to go in the first half.Â
Langston scored on a 5-yard pass a minute later to lead 30-0.Â
Late in the second quarter, Langston completed a 72-yard pass for a touchdown with 8:15 to go before halftime to lead 37-0.
Ramirez kicked a 53-yard punt in the second quarter and
Brandon Johnson recovered a Langston fumble at the Scots three-yard line late in the first half.
After Langston kicked a 27-yard field goal with 6:59 to go in the third quarter to go up 40-0, Miller completed a pass to
Xavier Long for 11-yards and
Reggie Brown for a 10-yard gain.Â
Lyon College drove down to the Langston 11 yard line and
Kevin Kargozar kicked a 27-yard field goal with 2:47 to go in the quarter to get the Scots on the scoreboard.Â
Andre Graydon intercepted a Langston pass at the Scots 3 in the fourth quarter, but Langston was able to come back and get a 19-yard field goal to make it 43-3 with 4:02 to go in the game.
