COLUMBIA, Missouri - The Lyon College Scots softball team will have to play a second game on opening day at the American Midwest Conference tournament in Columbia, Missouri on Tuesday.
The games were moved to Battle High School park and the format was changed to single games. The Scots game with Hannibal-LaGrange was moved back to 2 p.m. instead of the original 12:30 p.m. start. The cold temperatures, rainy and windy conditions didn't help either as the Scots fell in the opening round 6-2 to the Trojans.
Lyon College had a 2-0 lead after the top of the third inning.
Kassidy Robinson singled down the left field line to score Megan Englehardt. Then
Mary Duffield singled up the middle to bring in Robinson to give the Scots the advantage.Â
In the bottom of the third, Hannibal-LaGrange scored six runs to account for the their scoring in the contest.
The Scots had seven hits with
Addison Harmon, Robinson and Duffield all getting one hit each and
Celsey Wood got two hits.
Emily Martinez and
Melanie Mooney both got singles in the contest.
McKenzie Campbell suffered the loss and is 7-7 on the season.
With the loss, the Scots are to play the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy at 6 p.m.Â
