BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Lyon College Scots swept an American Midwest Conference double-header from the Central Baptist College Mustangs winning 22-8 and 9-4 on Saturday afternoon at Fred Wann Field in Batesville.
The Scots (21-14, 6-3) trailed 6-0 until a 7-run second inning turned the tide. In the bottom of the second inning,
Jayden Cull reached first on an error and
Alan West scored to get Lyon College on the scoreboard.
Chris Lara singled in
Alec White and
Troy Strack walked with the bases-loaded that scored Cull.
C.C. Burrup singled in
Derek Underwood and
Zach Ellis, then Strack stole home to tie the game. West reached on a fielder's choice that scored Burrup to put Lyon College up 7-6.
CBC tied the game in the top of the fourth, but the Scots scored three more runs to go up 10-7.
Aaron Hurd reached on an error that scored Strack. West hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Burrup and White singled in Hurd.
The Scots broke open the game with 10 runs in the fifth inning. Strack doubled in Ellis, Burrup doubled in Underwood and Strack, West singled in Hurd and Burrup, Cull doubled in West, Lara singled in Cull and White,
Haydn Finley hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Lara and
Lane McLevain singled to bring in
Jesse McGonigal.
The game ended in the sixth inning when Lara scored on a passed ball for the run-rule.
In the second game, Cull doubled in White to tie the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the second inning. Lara was hit by a pitch with the bases-loaded that scored Hurd to tie the game at 2-2.
Hakeem Yatim reached on a fielder's choice to bring in West and
Logan Doody singled in Yatim and Cull. Strack singled in Underwood for a 6-2 lead.
In the eighth inning, Underwood walked with the bases-loaded and
Kaden Doan scored. Lara singled in West and Hurd .
