BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Lyon College Scots baseball team improved to 29-15 overall and 12-3 in the American Midwest Conference by defeating the Harris-Stowe State University Hornets 3-2 in a nine-inning game at Fred Wann Field.
Harris-Stowe took a 1-0 lead after the first inning, but in the bottom of the second,
Chris Lara hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score
Alec White to tie the game.Â
The Hornets took a 2-1 lead in the top of the third inning, but in the bottom of the fifth,
Logan Doody reached on an error and advanced to second, while
Kaden Doan scored on the play to tie the game at 2-2.
The game stayed tied until the bottom of the ninth inning when Lara singled to center field moving
Tristan Buschow to second and White to third base, but on the play, the Hornets shortstop threw wild, which allowed White to score the winning run.
Alan West pitched nine innings and gave up only two earned runs while striking out 12 batters and walking one.Â
