BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Lyon College Softball Scots split an American Midwest Conference double-header on Friday afternoon against the Hannibal-LaGrange Trojans, losing the first game 5-4 and winning the second game 4-1.
The Scots (3-15, 3-3) spotted Hannibal-LaGrange a 4-0 lead through five innings, until
Kassidy Robinson hit a 2-run homer to left field to score
Addison Harmon in the bottom of the sixth inning.
After the Trojans picked up another run in the top of the seventh,
Melanie Mooney filed to left field to sacrifice in
Emily Martinez to make it a 5-3 game. Later in the seventh, Harmon tripled in
Trinity Arrambide.
In the second game, Hannibal-LaGrange held a 1-0 lead until the bottom of the fourth inning when
Jasmine Carlos doubled to center field to score
Kassidy Robinson and Megan Englehardt. Carlos scored when M.K. Duffield reached on a fielder's choice for a 3-1 Scots lead.
In the bottom of the sixth, Martinez reached on an error by the right fielder that scored
Georgia Holzer to make it a 4-1 Lyon College lead.
MacKenzie Campbell was the winning pitcher for the Scots, going seven inings, giving up one earned run and struck out three.
