BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon Scots softball team fell to the Briar Cliff Chargers 12-4 and 10-2 in double-header action and Howard and Mary House Field in Batesville on Thursday afternoon.
In the first game, Briar Cliff took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but Lyon rallied back to tie the game. In the bottom of the first,
Celsey Wood reached first on an error that scored
Kassidy Robinson and
Jasmine Carlos. Then in the top of the second inning, Robinson doubled in
Emily Martinez to tie the game at 3-3.
Briar Cliff scored eight times in the third inning to take an 11-3 lead.
The Scots got another run in the bottom of the third inning when
Georgia Holzer singled to center field to bring in Wood.
In the second game, Lyon College trailed 9-0 before
Trinity Arrambide singled in Wood and
Emilee Engles scored on a throwing error to make it 9-2.
The Scots are scheduled to be in action again at home on Saturday in a double-header against Crowley's Ridge.
