Morgan gets ninth double-double

BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Lyon College Scots dropped an 84-76 overtime decision to the Central Arkansas College Mustangs on Tuesday night in Conway, AR.
The game was tied at 39-39 at halftime and 69-69 at the end of regulation. The Scots fall to 8-16 overall and 3-9 in the American Midwest Conference standings.
John Paul Morgan led the Scots with 26 points and 14 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the year. Morgan is the current leader in rebounds in the AMC with 259 rebounds for an average of 10.4 per game. He has upped his scoring average to 13.5 points per game.
Ben Keton is second in the AMC in scoring with a 19.3 points per game average and Grant Patterson ranks sixth overall in scoring with a 14.7 points per game average.
Against CBC, Trenton Bell scored 22 points and had seven rebounds for Lyon College, while Patterson scored 16 points and 10 assists. Patterson ranks fifth in the conference in assists with an average of 3.4 per game.
For the game against the Mustangs, Lyon College shot 36.8 percent from the field (28-of-76) and hit 11-of-31 three-pointers for a 35.5 percent average. The Scots were 9-of-14 from the free throw line for 64.3 percent. CBC shot 50 percent from the field (33-of-66), made 6-of-18 three-pointers and hit 12-of-20 free throws.
Lyon scored 28 points in the paint, had 18 second chance points and got 27 points from the bench. The game was tied five times with eight lead changes. The Scots largest led was five that came at the 16:38 mark of the second half.
The Scots took a brief lead when Bell hit a three-pointer at the 10:18 mark of the first half, 18-17. Lyon College regain the lead on a layup by Morgan on the next possession. Gavin Brunson made a three-pointer for the Scots to make it a 23-22 lead with 8:50 to go in the first half. The game was tied twice before Bell hit another three-pointer to put the Scots ahead 27-26. Morgan added a layup for a three-point advantage and later added two free throws to make it 31-27.
Morgan's three-pointer with 16:38 to play put Lyon up 46-41. At the 8:52 mark, Morgan put in another three-pointer for a 52-50 Scots lead.  Brunson added to that, but CBC tied the game until Bell sank a three-pointer. Again, the Mustangs tied the game, but Patterson put in a three-pointer for a 62-60 Lyon College lead with 4:12 to go.
The Scots were down by six points, 68-62 with 56 seconds to go in regulation, but Patterson made two free throws, Morgan put in a layup inside and Patterson tied the game with a three-pointer with 22 seconds to play, 69-69.
The Mustangs outscored the Scots 12-2 to take an 81-72 lead with 1:43 left in overtime. Lyon College could get no closer than six points.
