BLUE MOUNTAIN, MS. - The Lyon College men's basketball Scots held a 33-32 first half lead, but were outscored 56-34 in the second half of an 88-67 loss to the Blue Mountain Christian University Toppers on Saturday afternoon at Tyler Gymnasium.
The Scots (3-7, 0-4) were led in scoring by
Sando Hill with 17 points,
Trenton Bell had 14 points,
Israel Palmer scored 13,
Nikola SaSaroga had 12 points and
John Paul Morgan scored 11 points. Lyon College got 22 points in the paint, scored six points off of turnovers had nine second-chance points in a game where the score was tied five times. The Scots led by nine points with 18:02 to go in the second half.
Morgan, Palmer and Bell scored for an 8-2 lead for the Scots early on. Hill made six of six free throws and SaSaroga scored twice to put Lyon College ahead 28-27 with 2:56 to go before halftime. Hill added three more free throws in the final 47 seconds to keep the Scots ahead by one point.
Bell made five straight points and Palmer sank two free throws to put the Scots up by nine points, 43-34. The Toppers came back to tie the game and eventually take a 57-52 lead and used a 10-0 run to continue their lead. Another run from Blue Mountain made for a 17-point lead with 2:19 to go, 84-57.
