ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Lyon College women's basketball team was outscored 20-9 in the second quarter, which made the difference in a 75-62 loss at the University of Health, Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis, Missouri on Thursday night in the American Midwest Conference.
The Scots (3-6, 2-3) trailed 16-14 after the first quarter, but the Eutectics went on a 20-9 run to lead 36-23 at halftime.Â
Allison Byars led Lyon College with 14 points,
Kayla Richardson scored 10 points,
Savanna Lopez had nine and
Kristen Baham added eight points for Lyon College.Â
The Scots scored 36 points in the paint, got 17 points off of turnovers, eight second-chance points and had 21 points from their bench. The score was tied twice, but Lyon College never held a lead.
Baskets from Richardson and Byars made two field goals. Baham made a three-pointer to cut the Eutectics lead to 14-11 with 2:28 to go in the first quarter and Lopez put in a layup to make it a two-point game at the buzzer.
Paige Tate tied the game at 16-16 with a shot inside, then Richardson scored to tie it at 18-18. UHS&P went on an 8-2 run. After a score from Lopez, the Eutectics went on an another 8-2 run before the end of the half.
UHS&P led by 20 points early in the third quarter, 43-23. By the end of the third period, Lyon College trailed 60-44.
