Scots women set Lyon College scoring record in 123-59 win over Bacone

BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Lyon College women's basketball team set a new Lyon College scoring record with their 123-59 win over the Bacone Warriors on Monday night. 

The Scots (3-5, 2-2) broke the old record of 112 points against Stephens College in 2018. And Lyon College broke the old mark of 41 field goals by hitting 45 against Bacone. 

Lyon College led 41-2 after the first quarter and 68-17 at halftime.

Kristen Baham led the Scots with 23 points, Mari Hanna-Newsom scored 21 points, Allison Byars and Paige Tate both scored 14 points each, Savanna Lopez had 13 points and Autumn Enote scored 12. 

Lyon College scored 48 points in the paint, had 33 points off a turnovers, scored 34 second-chance points, had 45 points from its bench and led by as much as 67 points with 34 seconds to go in the game.

Lyon College led 20-0 on three-pointers from Byars and Baham, three consecutive scores from Tate, a basket Kayla Richardson and six straight points from Baham. Bacone scored its first basket at the 5:48 mark of the first quarter. From there, it was a 21-0 run by the Scots to end the period. Newsom made three consecutive three-pointers, Enote hit a three-pointer, Lopez scored inside, Richardson put in a jumper, Natalya Kaza scored and Enote capped off the quarter with a three-pointer.

The Scots outscored Bacone 27-15 in the second quarter. Baham, Tate and Kaza all scored five points each, while Enote had four. Newsom, Richardson, Lopez and Emily Harrison scored baskets. Lyon College led 95-37 after the third quarter.
