COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Lyon College Scots volleyball team travels to Columbia, Missouri to play the No. 14-ranked Columbia Cougars in the first round of the American Midwest Conference tournament beginning at 7 p.m. tonight at the Arena of Southwell Complex.
The Scots (10-16) are coming off a loss at Harris-Stowe to end the regular season for volleyball in the AMC. They hosted Columbia on Oct. 28 at lost in three straight sets.
With nothing to lose and everything to gain, Lyon College volleyball has been led by outside hitters Kaylee Sabella,
Isabella Beasley and
Paeton Tucker.
Samantha Ferguson, the middle blocker, is leading the team in blocks with
Cassidy Garrett,
Layla Wilson and
Madeline Hopson at setters.
Erin Haigwood, who leads the conference in digs, has been the one of the top libero's in the league all season.
Natalia Szymanska and
Jayden Hughes have also come on as prominent outside hitters.Berekely Landrum,
Riley Straka and
Natalie Siler have also been intricate parts of the team, as well.
Sabella has 291 kills on the season to lead the Scots. Tucker is second in kills with 197 and Beasley has 177. Ferguson is at 122 kills, Szymanska has 82 and Hughes has 71 kills. Garrett leads Lyon College with 359 assists, Wilson has 230 and Hopson 151. Haigwood leads with 488 digs and a 5.14 digs per set average. Sabella has 288 digs and Tucker has 286. Ferguson is the leader in blocks with 58, Beasley has 41, Sabella has 33 and Szymanska has 29.
