Lyon College men's soccer falls to Harris-Stowe State

BATESVILLE, Ark. - Senior Day for the Lyon College Scots men's soccer team didn't exactly go as planned with heavy rain before the game and an aggressive Harris-Stowe State University Hornets offense in contention at Huser Field on Saturday afternoon.

The Scots (3-12-3, 2-5-1) led 1-0 at halftime, but the Hornets came back with a barrage of points in the second half to take a 6-1 victory in the American Midwest Conference finale. Lyon College will now take on the Columbia Cougars in Columbia, Missouri for the first round of the AMC tournament at 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 5th.

Andrei Galca got the Scots goal in the 25th minute of the first half on a point-blank shot that banged off the Harris-Stowe goalie and into the net. Tinotenda Mtangadura got a shot on-goal for Lyon College in the 43rd minute, but it was saved.

Galca got another shot on-goal in the 47th minute of the second period and it was saved, but Harris-Stowe scored in the 48th minute to tie the game. Jevanni Hinkson's shot on goal was high for the Scots, but the Hornets got their second goal in the 56th minute.

At the 58:27 mark, Harris-Stowe scored again and added another goal in the 60th minute. The Hornets ended up with another goal in the 68th minute and tacked on a late goal in the 87th minute to win the match.
